Tony Haslam
Despite having held senior positions in some of the largest and most well known Leisure Sector companies – including the famous Riverside Group of Tennis and Fitness Clubs where as the Operations Director he was responsible for increasing the profitability of the flagship club, The Riverside in Chiswick, from £26K to £1.64m – the word ‘leisurely’ isn’t one that people would associate with Tony.
Since leaving the Army, where he spent 7 years in the 13/18th Royal Hussars (Queen Mary’s Own), he has managed to pack in sitting on the Board of 13 companies including Tetley Walker PLC ( a main subsidiary of Allied Breweries PLC ) and Sealink British Ferries Passenger Services Division, developed Allied Breweries’ Café Bar concept, Muswells ( which grew to a chain of 47 and proved to be one of Allied’s most profitable outlets per square foot ever) and run his own Head-hunting franchise in association with MRI Worldwide, specialising in the Leisure Industry, where he built up a successful and profitable business with a client base which included Whitbread Restaurants, Mitchells and Butler PLC and Pizza Hut.
However, just to prove that he does understand what the word leisure means, Tony devotes time to his family, skiing and fishing.
